As
we head into 2010, it is imperative that we look back, review, and
reflect upon the last eighteen months of business. What transpired in
the global economy was nothing short of unprecedented. So many sectors
around the world have been severely impacted, along with the Paper
industry. There have been record amounts of permanent Mill closures,
shutdowns, extraordinary credit restrictions, and a drastic decrease in
overall industry shipments. Fortunately, the credit markets are slowly
thawing and hopefully will return to pre-September 2008 levels before
long.
Although at CPC our volumes did not grow as much as we anticipated prior
to this crisis, thankfully we still had a very solid year. Some of our
divisions did not perform as well as others, however, on a whole, we
have withstood the brunt of the recession and are looking forward to
continued growth. Our culture certainly has not changed. If anything, we
are more determined than ever to deliver on our principles. So where is
CPC now? We are fortunate and privileged to advise that we are standing
strong.
CPC’s plans for the future are grand. Even though the entire globe has
been frozen in fear from financial chaos, we are still standing by our
strategy for growth and delivering solid results. CPC is currently
embarking on what may be the most ambitious plans in the history of our
company. Over the next number of months, we will be introducing some
new, innovative strategies to augment our current initiatives. It is in
times like these that true stars shine. We have every intention to keep
shining in what still is, and will remain, an exhilarating industry.
Stay tuned!
I would personally like to thank CPC’s fabulous employees who persevered
throughout the crisis. I believe CPC has one of the best teams in the
industry…they are bright, hard working, and ambitious. As well, I want
to extend a heartfelt thanks to our suppliers and customers around the
world who continued to support us during these economically challenging
times.
